Moving Beyond Traditional Media

By now, you probably have a Facebook or MySpace page. But are you and your company LinkedIn? Do you Twitter? Do your clients? Does your CEO? Why is Proctor and Gamble willing to do away with advertising before it abandons www.beinggirl.com?

Social networking applications are changing the way we communicate with the media, consumers, constituents and each other. And, according to Josh Bernhoff, an industry analyst with Forrester Research, they are here to stay. Why? Social applications are about conversations and consideration, says the Bulldog Reporter. “They’re about people connecting with other people. They’re cheap in comparison to many other forms of marketing and PR and they’re measurable.”

As PR specialists and PIOs, we need to move our companies and/or our clients beyond traditional media in order to take advantage of everything social networking has to offer.

Please join PRSA of Idaho on May 19 to explore:
Moving Beyond Traditional Media—How to Get There and Prove Results

During this discussion, three different perspectives will be presented on how social media methods are being used effectively across multiple mediums in varying degrees. Featured speakers will address how social applications have changed traditional news, PR and PIO roles, and they will give tips on how you can apply what you learn during this valuable session in your work setting.

Featured speakers include:

Zachary Hyder – Fleishman-Hillard, Managing Partner and Senior Digital Strategist
Vicki Gowler – Idaho Statesman, Editor and Vice President
Jill Kuraitis – NewWest.Net, Idaho Publisher and Editor

We look forward to seeing you on May 19 at JR Simplot, 999 Main Street, Room # TBD.

The program will last from 11:45-1:15 and lunch will be provided ($12 members / $15 nonmembers). RSVP by May 16 to Robbie Johnson, 208.387.6228, Rjohnson@achd.ada.id.us
