Hear lessons learned from a year on the phones with national media for the Boise Valley Economic Partnership. Brenda Deeley, vice president for Porter Novelli, leads BVEP's national media relations program designed to raise awareness with CEOs and their influencers about opportunities to do business in the Boise Valley. Brenda will also address the challenges and opportunities of selling an out-of-market business/product and tips for ensuring success.

Short Bio of Brenda Deeley Vice President Porter Novelli, Orange County
Brenda Deeley leads and manages strategic communications programs for a number of major business and government organizations including the Boise Valley Economic Partnership, San Diego County Regional Airport Authority, Transportation Corridor Agencies, California Chapter of the American Planning Association and Children & Families Commission of Orange County. Her work succeeds in positioning her clients as leaders and newsmakers in their industries. In 2007, she led a team of media specialists that placed articles on behalf of the Boise Valley Economic Partnership in The New York Times, ComputerWorld, BusinessWeek Small Biz, CIO and National Real Estate Investor, among others. The region was also featured multiple times on CNBC.
Brenda earned a Silver Anvil in 2006, the public relations industry’s highest honor, for her work on the Orange County Water District and Orange County Sanitation District’s Groundwater Replenishment System. She has also earned nine first place "Protos" from the Orange County chapter of the Public Relations Society of America.
Brenda is committed to making a difference in the community and provides pro-bono media relations and public relations counsel for the Down Syndrome Association of Orange County. Brenda has also served on the public relations committee for the National Down Syndrome Congress in Atlanta.
Prior to joining Porter Novelli, Brenda served as executive director for San Diego County Citizens Against Lawsuit Abuse, a grass roots nonprofit organization dedicated to civil justice reform. Her articles on civil justice reform have appeared in the L.A. Daily News, San Diego Union-Tribune, San Diego Business Journal and numerous other West Coast newspapers.
Brenda earned her bachelor’s degree in communications/broadcast journalism from the University of Washington. She earned her master’s degree in political science with specialization in public policy and administration from Western Washington University.
